Instalment Sale
This type of agreement will suit business-owners (or private individuals) who want to own the asset at the end of the agreement.
- You own the goods when you’ve paid the full amount.
- Since the asset is used for business purposes, you can claim depreciation and the yearly interest paid against tax.

Finance Lease
The benefits of leasing accrue mainly if you’re using the item for business, or in the generation of income.
- Rentals can be claimed as expense against tax.
- You don’t need to own the asset to use it.

- Stepped payments, balloon rentals and other structures can be tailored to your needs.

Rentals
This option works like a house rental, where you have uninterrupted use of the goods. You pay a monthly rental calculated at an agreed interest rate. At the end of the term, you can decide to return the goods, or take ownership, subject to various conditions.
The primary difference between a rental and other agreements is that with a rental, VAT is charged monthly, and not on the full purchase price at inception.
The benefits of choosing a rental agreement are:
- Since the asset is for business use, you can claim your monthly rentals and VAT against tax.
- You enjoy the immediate use of the asset without having to save the full amount for it.
- Though you don’t own the asset whilst renting it, ownership can be arranged at any stage.
- If you take the ownership option, you’ll benefit from any resale value of the item.
- The deposit percentage and repayment period can be negotiated to suit you.
